DULLES, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/30/09 -- Jack Kies, President of Metron Aviation, will be speaking at the 54th Annual Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) Conference and Exhibition as a panel member on the Traffic Flow Management (TFM), Weather and Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) session, taking place on October 5th, 2009 at 4:15PM (ET).
The TFM, Weather and CDM Panel will discuss how CDM and TFM tools can reduce flight delays, increase efficiency and improve environmental sustainability. The panel, consisting of representatives from the Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO), Delta Air Lines, Lockheed Martin and Computer Sciences Corporation, along with Metron Aviation, will delve into today's best practices and ideas for future improvements to reduce the impact of congestion, weather and separated airspace.
Mr. Kies, with over 30 years of operational air traffic control and management experience, was one of the first advocates of collaboration among system users and service providers, leading the way to the development of advanced CDM tools and strategies. Under Mr. Kies' direction, a move towards real-time data exchange between airlines and the FAA became the backbone of the U.S. TFM system. Mr. Kies blogs about important ATM industry issues at www.metronaviation.com, Air Traffic Harmonization: Breaking Down Walls.
Metron Aviation will be exhibiting at ATCA Booth # 205. For more information on the 54th Annual ATCA Conference and Exhibition, taking place at National Harbor's Gaylord Hotel in Washington, D.C., visit http://www.atca.org/.
