DULLES, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/05/09 -- Metron Aviation announces the formation of its core team for the FAA Systems Engineering 2020 (SE-2020) Research & Development/Mission Analysis small business opportunity. SE-2020 encompasses the FAA's primary NextGen research and systems engineering support contracts that will support future air transportation safety, capacity, efficiency and environmental goals. Metron Aviation, as prime contractor, has assembled a core team with unparalleled domain expertise and track records in the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS), consisting of Metron Aviation, Flatirons Solutions, CSSI and Sensis.

The team chosen for the SE-2020 Research and Development/Mission Analysis Support Set-Aside will perform the research, concept exploration and development needed to advance NextGen under the FAA's SE-2020 initiative. The scope of work will include modeling, simulation, prototyping and operational demonstrations of NextGen capabilities.
